LITTLE BIRD ARTISAN MARKET PAIRS WITH RIPON THEATRE FESTIVAL FOR MASSIVE ‘BIG FAMILY WEEKEND’

The historic city of Ripon is set to transform into a vibrant stage of culture and creativity this July, and the Little Bird Made Artisan Market is ready to join the theatre festival's big family weekend on Sunday 12 July for the final day of celebrations.

Running from 10am to 3pm, the artisan market brings together a curated lineup of Yorkshire’s finest independent makers, artisans, and street food traders. Visitors can browse a stunning array of handmade crafts, unique homeware, organic skincare, and locally produced food and drink, all while soaking up the electric festival atmosphere.

Supported by Visit North Yorkshire, the Big Family Weekend will fill the city with world class street theatre, circus acts, walkabout characters, puppetry, dance, and live music. The final day of the Ripon Theatre Festival, is designed as the ultimate family day out, anchoring the entertainment around the beautiful Spa Gardens and the bustling marketplace artisan stalls.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the Ripon Theatre Festival’s Big Family Weekend,” said Jackie Crozier, Managing Director of Little Bird Made. “The festival brings an incredible energy to Ripon, and our market is the perfect place for families to gather, eat incredible street food, and discover truly unique items made by talented local artisans while enjoying the free outdoor entertainment.”

Katie Scott, Festival Director of Ripon Theatre Festival said, “We are delighted to partner with Little Bird for the fourth year in a row. Working with the enthusiastic traders at the special Festival Market allows us to spread the festival joy throughout Ripon as part of our Big Family Weekend. Our popular mix of professional street entertainers performing alongside many talented community performers is always a big hit with shoppers and festival audiences alike. Our heartfelt thanks to Jackie and her incredible team.”

She continues, “Sunday Market Place highlights include Kismat Walla – pop-up puppetry capturing a bustling South Asian market and Frankie Magilligan with the tallest unicycle in Ireland! And community talent from two sides of Morris dancers, Ripon Goes to Bollywood and St Aelred’s Irish Dance Troupe. It’s going to be a busy day!”

Carolyn Barnes, owner of Hollingate said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be part of the Ripon Theatre Festival this year. With so much fantastic street entertainment, shopping, and live music, it truly is a spectacular day out for the whole family. We can’t wait to see you all there.”

The event is free to enter and designed to encourage residents and tourists alike to make a full weekend of it, exploring Ripon’s independent shops, historic streets, and vibrant cafe culture.
