It’s also a great day out to browse the stalls, walk around the local towns and enjoy the beautiful settings.

This week (14th – 20th October) is National Baking Week and what better way to celebrate than coming along to Little Bird Markets and supporting some of the talented bakers that trade at our markets? With The Great British Bake off on TV to tempt us with lots of amazing bakes and cakes, it’s a great excuse to indulge in some treats and support local small businesses at the same time. There will be lots of sweet and savoury treats to take home and enjoy, so if it's brownies for your afternoon tea, scones for your Sunday lunch, or biscuits to enjoy with family we will have it all.

This weekend’s bakers will include: It’s the Little Things Bakery with their giant gourmet scones, Katy Bakes with giant cookies and brownies, Casa Mia who have the largest donut, definitely made for sharing, All Spice who also have lots of homemade jams to go with your purchases, Tiffin Annies with their treat box options of your favourite flavours and lots more bakes, cakes and treats from The Fat Bird Bakery, Sweet Tooth Bakery, and Bakes and Treats. There will be lots of options in both Richmond and Thirsk so come along and pick up your favourites.

One of Little Bird's regular traders, Willow’s Bakes spoke about how they began their business, “I started baking our namesake’s birthday cakes and realised that every year I really looked forward to making them and enjoyed the whole planning and relaxation of baking and decorating. Slowly, I started to bake other treats and loved seeing others enjoy them. I was a full-time project manager but covid brought about redundancy from my job, which at first was devastating but truly gave me the push to pursue what made me happy. Instantly life changed, creating beautiful bakes and general yummy bakes for all to enjoy. I wouldn’t change one bit of it, I enjoy every day of making and baking and especially meeting all our wonderful customers at Little Bird markets and being with our trader family”.

The markets will take place this weekend in the following locations:

Sunday 16th October, 10am – 3pm, Market Place, Richmond DL10 4QS

Sunday 16th October, 10am – 3pm, Market Place, Thirsk YO7 1EY

All markets are listed on the Little Bird website, so have a look and find out when they will be visiting a town near you. All the festive market dates are also listed, so you can you’re your Christmas shopping trips in advance.
