LITTLE BIRD 2021 REVIEW

As Little Bird entered 2021 we had to wait patiently with the rest of the country and seize the moment when it came. With a sense of cautious optimism, vaccines rolled out, local businesses began to safely reopen and recover - we were determined to lead from the front and get our artisan markets up and running safely. We wanted our traders to claw back much needed revenue and our host towns/venues to get people back out shopping. The COVID comeback was on.

It is clear that we still have far to go, on many fronts. But with 2022 just around the corner, we’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on the many wins and milestones Little Bird Artisan Markets reached this year.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our LB traders for their hard work and perseverance during another challenging year. Without our traders we don’t have our LB community. Without our customers our small business artisan traders, crafters, makers and talented peeps can’t make their way. Running a business has never been more difficult than now. But the energy and enthusiasm at our events has continued to inspire LB business owners to get involved and stay involved.

Our Top Ten Hits of 2021

  1. We’ve expanded. Boy have we expanded. We are now in Ripon, Pateley Bridge, Boroughbridge, Easingwold, Wetherby, Tadcaster, Harrogate, Richmond, Knaresborough and our new market of Darlington.

  2. We had pop up events for TadCaster Day, Wetherby Light Switch On, and held our first Christmas Markets in Valley Gardens with Harrogate Borough Council.

  3. We are now online with a super website www.littlebirdmade.com

  4. We have a charity partnership with the British Heart Foundation who we will be supporting for the next 12 months.

  5. We now have an Online Market Place

  6. One of our traders Concrete & Cacti made the jump from artisan stall holder to getting a fully fledged shop in Boroughbridge. Super proud of Laura.

  7. We took lots of staff on. A huge thank you to a fabulous, dedicated team. Mark, Hazel & Teah do a great job of keeping the office going and a huge thank you to Anne, Carl, Gary, Rai, Izzy, Anna and previously Michael and Danika for all their support.

  8. We have massively increased our social media reach over the last 12 months with over 10,000 followers over our platforms.

  9. We created a video of our markets.

  10. We were really flipping busy. Absolutely blown away by our customer support. Pateley Bridge saw huge footfalls and the Wetherby Dickensian Christmas Market saw record numbers.

We can’t tell you everything that’s coming this year, but take our word for it—there’s never been a better time to join our community of artisan traders, join our online market or shop small for 2022 and make a small business owner do a happy dance.

We're sailing into this new year with optimism, gratitude, and joy. On behalf of Team Little Bird I would like to wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Successful 2022.
