A TRIUMPH FOR TRADE: MALTON’S NEWEST MARKET MAKES A STUNNING DEBUT
The heart of Malton was transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity this past Saturday, 21st February, as the Malton Artisan Market officially made its highly anticipated debut.
The event saw visitors enjoying the February air to support a curated selection of independent makers, bakers, and creators. From handcrafted jewellery to artisanal cheeses and stunningly handcrafted woodwork and garden accessories, the market showcased the very best of regional craftsmanship.
‘’We are absolutely thrilled with the turnout for our first ever artisan market right in the heart of Malton,’’ says Jackie Crozier, Managing Director of Little Bird Made. ‘’The energy in Malton was incredible. Our goal was to create a space that celebrates Yorkshire talent, and seeing the community come out in force to support the small independent artisans exceeded all our expectations. We couldn’t be more proud of our debut artisan market and look forward to returning each month.’’
Dan Leaver, owner of Dan’s Pies said, ‘’It felt so good to be back in Malton on Saturday, after a 5 month break since we last traded here. It was great to see so many familiar faces, as well as a lot of new customers who had heard of my pies, but hadn’t had the chance to purchase.’’
Dan continues, ‘’Little Bird put on an excellent event on Saturday, with a wide variety of traders and a fantastic buzz in the air all day. I’m looking forward to returning next month and trading once again in the food capital of Yorkshire!’’
Amanda-Jayne Wilson, owner of small business Prim & Proper By Maxi, said, ‘’I had such a wonderful time trading in Malton for the first time. It felt incredibly special to be in one of my local market towns and to be welcomed so warmly by both customers and fellow traders. The atmosphere was incredible, and so many people took the time to thank us for being there, which meant so much. The support and enthusiasm throughout the day was truly heartwarming.’’
Amanda-Jayne continues, ‘’It’s also a real privilege to be part of the Little Bird Artisan Markets community, which creates such welcoming and well-organised events. I was so excited to share Prim & Proper By Maxi with a new audience, and it was a really memorable experience. I’m already looking forward to returning.’’
Local shoppers noted the high quality of goods and the welcoming atmosphere, cementing the market as a new staple in the local calendar.
"I really enjoyed the market; there was such a great mix of stalls," said visitor Jane Williams. "We are already looking forward to the next one in March."
The positive feedback continued throughout the day, with visitor Racheal Watmore adding, "It’s a lovely market and I loved the setup. We bought pies for tea and a Mother’s Day gift for my Mum - though I have to keep that a secret for now!"
Building on the weekend’s success, the Malton Artisan Market is already looking forward to the future. Plans are underway for the next event on Saturday, 21st March, which promises even more variety and community engagement.
