LITTLE BIRD MADE SOARS IN SUPPORT OF YORKSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE

As you all know here at Little Bird we love to support local North Yorkshire based charities. From the RSPB, the British Heart Foundation, Dogs Trust and so many more. One in particular is the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who attend our events to fundraise to keep their services active.

The air ambulance helicopters fly seven days a week, 365 days a year. Each air ambulance consists of two specialist teams. One flies with a crew consisting of a highly experienced pilot, a qualified technical crew member, a consultant doctor with experience in A & E as well as anaesthesiology and two specialist critical care paramedics. The second helicopter has a pilot, a qualified technical crew member and two specialist critical care paramedics. Together these individuals form a very highly skilled team that responds to those in urgent need, where they start the specialist treatment at the scene of an incident prior to transporting the injured to a major trauma centre or hospital.

The air ambulances are based at two locations, one is stationed in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and the second is based at RAF Topcliffe near Thirsk, North Yorkshire. These state of the art helicopters have been funded through the amazing generosity of the public through donations and grant funding.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent charity which relies on the public’s and organisations support to keep this service active. The main fundraising focus has always been to educate the people of Yorkshire about the services they provide.

This specialist team over the course of the year responds to 1,500 incidents, they treat over 1.100 patients and will fly over 330 patients to major trauma centres and other hospitals across the county each year.

So next time you visit a Little Bird Made market, and you see the air ambulance fundraisers, why not have a chat and see how you can support this phenomenal charity to continue the work they do, and to keep on saving lives.
