Rain or Shine: Why Markets Are Great All Year Round

If there's one thing we can never quite predict, it's the British weather. One minute we're enjoying sunshine and blue skies, the next we're reaching for an umbrella. But one thing that doesn't change is the joy of spending time at a local artisan market.

At Little Bird Made, we know that a great market experience isn't dependent on the forecast. Whether the sun is shining or there's a chill in the air, our markets are filled with talented makers, delicious food, unique gifts and a wonderful community atmosphere.

This weekend is a perfect example.

On Saturday, we'll be bringing our markets to both Easingwold and Acomb, including our popular Flourish & Feast Market in Acomb. Then on Sunday, we'll be heading to Wetherby with another fantastic line-up of independent businesses and artisan traders.

Each market offers something a little different, but they all share the same ingredients: creativity, quality and the opportunity to support local independent businesses.

Discover Something You Won't Find on the High Street

One of the best things about visiting an artisan market is the chance to discover products with a story behind them.

From handmade jewellery and home décor to artwork, candles, food and gifts, every stall represents the passion and hard work of a small business owner. When you buy from a market trader, you're not just purchasing a product – you're supporting someone's craft, creativity and livelihood.

A Day Out for Everyone

Markets are about much more than shopping.

They're a chance to spend time with family and friends, enjoy a stroll through your local community and discover new businesses. Many visitors come for a quick browse and end up spending hours chatting to traders, sampling local produce and finding unexpected treasures.

Our Flourish & Feast Market in Acomb is a great example, bringing together artisan food, local producers and independent makers in a vibrant community setting.

Every Season Has Its Charm

While sunny market days are always welcome, there's something special about markets throughout the year.

Spring brings fresh ideas and colourful creations. Summer is perfect for discovering gifts, garden accessories and treats for outdoor living. As autumn and winter arrive, markets become a wonderful place to find cosy homewares, seasonal food and thoughtful handmade gifts.

No matter the season, our traders are constantly creating new products and bringing fresh inspiration to every event.
