This Is Why We Do It

As an event market organiser, I built my business with a simple goal: to support small businesses like my own, while also helping our high streets and boosting local tourism. When these three things come together, something really special happens — our communities start to feel connected, vibrant, and full of life again.

This past weekend was a perfect example of that.

We hosted markets in Acomb, Thirsk, and Leeds Briggate. The sun was shining (mostly!), the atmosphere was buzzing, and our traders truly brought their A-game. There’s nothing quite like seeing passionate people showcase what they’ve worked so hard to create.

One moment in particular stood out to me. A trader shared a post on Saturday that simply said:

“Days like this remind us why we love what we do.”

That meant a lot.

Because while I created the platform, it’s the traders who bring it to life. They show up, they put in the effort, and they create something worth experiencing. The customers play their part too — showing up, supporting local, and adding to the energy of the day.

And at the heart of it all is a shared love for our communities.

That’s what makes it work.

That’s what makes it worth it.

And yes there was a lot of dancing this weekend. . . . . to be continued . . . .
