SUN, SHOPPING, AND SUPPORT LOCAL: LITTLE BIRD MADE’S ACOMB ARTISAN MARKET BRINGS SUMMER VIBES THIS FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND
Front Street, Acomb is set to come alive with summer energy this Saturday, 20 June, as the popular Acomb Artisan Market returns. Running from 10am to 3pm, the event promises a vibrant family day out dedicated to celebrating local talent and encouraging visitors and the local community to support the independent makers and high street.
With Father’s Day, on Sunday 21 June, the artisan market offers the ultimate opportunity for shoppers to purchase a unique gift. Visitors can expect an exceptional curated lineup of regional makers, creators, bakers, and producers offering everything from handcrafted goods and original art to small batch spirits and artisanal preserves and locally crafted breads and delicious treats.Organised by Little Bird Made in partnership with local councillors and the Acomb Front Street Regeneration project, the monthly market has become a vital hub for community connection and economic growth.
Little Bird Made encourages visitors to not only browse and support the independent artisan makers but also to explore and support the permanent independent shops, cafes, and businesses that form the backbone of Acomb’s high street.
Jackie Crozier, Managing Director of Little Bird Made said, “There is a completely different energy on the high street when the market comes to town. This Saturday is all about soaking up those summer vibes, finding that perfect thoughtful gift for Father’s Day, and actively choosing to keep our money local. By supporting both our visiting traders and Acomb’s brilliant high street shops, we help keep our high streets thriving and unique.”
Dawn Theaker, owner of Curious Candles said, “I started this business five years ago during covid, while juggling home working and home schooling. My very first market was the Little Bird Made Acomb Artisan Market, and I was incredibly nervous that no one would stop to chat with us, let alone buy a candle. I was blown away with how friendly, warm and welcoming everyone was.”
She continues, “The support I have received has given me the confidence to believe in myself and my little business. Since that first market, I have traded with Little Bird Made braving every weather from freezing winter mornings to glorious summer sunshine alongside a wonderful community of talented and creative makers. Acomb has been a vibrant and thriving community in recent years and I feel so privileged to be showcasing our candle collection right outside my old primary school. I am proud to be an Acomber, born and bred.”
